Hey you guys, Ace here with another journal (and it’s gonna be long. So I do appreciate forthose who bare with me to the end. And trust me, it’ll be worth it). And yes, I do realize what I’m doing is quite late but I believe this is the appropriate time to write it. And plus, I modified the idea or structure a bit so I can convey what I am about to say.
Before we begin, let me give you guys a brief update of where I am right now with my works and status. Some of you might now have realize but I have been quite inactive for sometime (work-wise mostly). Especially with my manga, SOMA. Well there is a reason for that and this journal will explain why in just a sec.
Adding to that, this will also be my last journal update post. “What? Really? No! Ace, are you leaving us?” *nods head* Yep, I guess time’s up for me. Never knew it would come this soon. So what does that mean? Well, excessive inactivity of course, unfortunately. To be more exact, a semi-hiatus. So after the day this journal post is uploaded, I will upload my hiatus-notice journal and from there you guys can expect not to see me every so often anymore. But I can reassure you guys, my manga will still be ongoing but a bit slow. So I do greatly appreciate all those who have been patient with me for the past several months. Also, there is a chance where I won’t upload any more of my illustrations that I usually do. L I will explain for that reason as well later on.
But for right now, I have one more fan art to upload and ~2 last illustration to share with you all before I go. So don’t worry, it’s not over when I say it’s over.
Wow…deviantART has been around for 14 years so far and I’ve been part of it for over 1/7 of it. Doesn’t sound much but if we look back from when I started (stats, uploads, comments, etc.) it’s quite a lot actually. So I’ve been here for over 2 years?...Amazing. Let’s take a quick look what it has been like from then until now…
When I first signed up to deviantART, I had: 0 watchers, 1 pageview, 0 deviations, 0 comments, 0 scraps, 0 favorites, and 0 forum posts. Now, I have: over 250 watchers, over 18K pageviews, over 4500 comments made, 320 deviations uploaded and counting, 2 scraps, added over 31K favorites, and over 600 forum posts....WOW! Holy crap...and all of that was done in just over 2 years. So I greatly thank you all for all this support over the past 2 and a half years. You guys have been awesome!
I would also like to thank those that have supported me all the way till now on my WIP manga, SOMA. You guys are even awesome-mer. I have created this manga for over 7 years and I wouldn't even think I would get so much support on it. My manga wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't for you guys. So I greatly thank you all for that.
Below are some comparisons I uploaded last year of the pages and panels I made before I enhanced my skills and when I finally understood the basics of creating a manga page layout. Check 'em out:
What I like to also look back at are my first design works and see what I can pull off nowadays. So let's see...
*whistle* Now that's a huge difference within a 2 year span of work if I can say so for myself. Wouldn't have done it (and I'm not sure if he'll read this but) if markcrilley wasn't around. So thank you Mr. Crilley. I love your videos and tutorial books and I greatly appreciate the time you put into them to help me and other future artists, whether they are hobbyist or going professional, to improve their skills where we would never thought we could reach. Again, thank you.
And finally, I would also like to give a special thanks to my admin SakamotoNadeshiko and her group . Not to mention the contributors part of it (especially, Fanyuxuan and rainbownote). You guys have made my time on deviantART worth my while.
For some of you that don't know, I was part of deviantART for one year and during that time I was only a member for that group. Soon afterwards, the admin posted a Help Wanted journal for new Contributors. So I decided to sign up and see what would happen for myself. 2 weeks later, I received a notice from the admin that I was in, that I had the qualifications that I needed to (somewhat) improve the group. Never knew I would. So from there, I became and soon the only male Contributor of the group. It was fun being in charge and making "heavy" decisions for the group. I never felt so engaged to an online group filled with strangers before (except when I'm kicking ass in various video games I play, lol). Soon after that, the active members (the ones I listed), we soon came together and began talking about group activities which then later led to casual talks on Skype as if we knew each other face-to-face. Never had that kind of "relationship" with online people before either. So that was fun experience. From the day when we first thought to be just "co-workers" to a group of great friends from various interesting locations around the world.
So thanks you guys. It was really nice working and meeting with you all.
I guess that's it. So yeah...wow, over two years and look at what has been going around me. Never knew that being part of deviantART for just a short amount of time could really change you (in some and certain ways lol). What I really want to say is....Happy 14th Birthday, deviantART, and thank you so much for providing so many opportunities for me on this site. It was real fun being part of this great community and I wish I could've been part of it forever but there is always a limit. So I don't just wish a happy birthday but a great farewell. Yes, this is not just my deviantART story but my deviantART life story before I say good bye. And I guess it's that time...so goodbye deviantART and all of its wonderful features. I will greatly miss you but I do promise I will return someday. Before that day arrives, I must go off into my own personal adventure that I have fore long waited to go on from the day I got out of high school. Anyways, I'll catch you later.
Whoo....that was a long speech. Before I end this, I would like to thank you all that have been patient with me up to now with this journal entry. It was a long and stressful adventure you have just endured and I understand but please hear me out for a few more moments. I wouldn't still be here with an active account if it wasn't for you guys. You have helped me succeed in various areas I thought I would never achieved till this day. I thought my manga would die months ago but it didn't because of you. I thought I would not receive at least 100 watchers but now I have over 200 and soon 300. You guys...*sniff*...dammit, I just don't know how to explain it in words and all I can say, and I'm never sure when it'll be enough, but thank you...Thank you for helping me to become who I am today as a deviant and an artist. Thank you! Cảm ơn! ありがとうございまし! Or whatever language you speak! *bows*
Well, that's it. It's been fun y'all but it's time for the ace to fly off and do what he was assign to do. Thanks and I wish everyone with their great endeavors.
Ace...out...and logging out.
